Toronto, November 13, 2007 – Recognizing investors’ demand for choice, value and leading investment management expertise, Renaissance Investments today introduced two new products to its line-up. The two new funds being introduced to individual investors are the Renaissance Global Infrastructure Fund and Renaissance Optimal Income Portfolio.
The new Renaissance Global Infrastructure Fund offers investors access to the unique infrastructure asset class, which until recently has been predominantly available only to institutional investors. Given the strong global need for new infrastructure and the expanding investing opportunities, the outlook for the infrastructure asset class is very strong. In both the developed and developing markets, countries are catching up after decades of underinvestment in infrastructure, and significant projects are taking place globally, creating a growing investment opportunity for investors. Some of the key features of infrastructure investing are long-term stable returns, access to a growing market, strong portfolio diversification, attractive yields and a natural inflation hedge.
“Institutional investors such as pension plans have long recognized the powerful investment opportunities inherent in infrastructure,” said Steve Geist, President of CIBC Asset Management Inc. “Investors in infrastructure will benefit from what is set to become one of the biggest investment opportunities of the decade, and we are excited to be able to offer this asset class to Canadian retail investors.”
The fund is sub-advised by RARE Infrastructure Limited (RARE), an investment manager based in Sydney, Australia specializing in the infrastructure sector. With a combined experience of more than 70 years in this asset class, RARE’s investment team has unparalleled expertise that will add value to the fund. RARE’s investment process includes quantitative and qualitative assessments to select a final portfolio of approximately 30 – 60 stocks from a universe of 40,000 globally listed securities.
Renaissance Investments is also very excited to launch the Renaissance Optimal Income Portfolio as an all-in-one income solution that has been designed to meet the various income needs of investors. The portfolio offers broad diversification through a multi-manager strategic mix of mutual funds, including the Renaissance Global Infrastructure Fund, designed to maximize return potential, manage risk, and protect against inflation. The portfolio also offers consistent and tax-efficient cash flow through its 4%, 6% or 8% payout options that may include a return of capital component.
The Renaissance Optimal Income Portfolio is comprised of the Renaissance Global Infrastructure Fund; the Renaissance Canadian Dividend Income Fund; the Renaissance Canadian Bond Fund; the Renaissance Canadian High Yield Bond Fund; the Renaissance Global Bond Fund; and the Renaissance Canadian Real Return Bond Fund.
“We are excited to offer these two new products,” said Geist. “There is increasing importance for investors to find tax-efficient income generating solutions while ensuring a diversified portfolio focused on capital preservation. We are responding to these needs and are committed to ensuring the products we launch are targeted to meet and exceed the needs of Canadian investors.”
Renaissance Investments offers a line-up of high quality investment solutions which offer investors the very best in choice, value and investment management expertise. Renaissance Investments products include the Renaissance Investments family of funds, Axiom Portfolios, Frontiers Pools and Sequence Portfolios.
