CIBC Asset Management launches the CIBC Multi-Asset Absolute Return Strategy

CIBC Asset Management Inc. today announced the launch of the CIBC Multi-Asset Absolute Return Strategy, an alternative investment fund that aims to generate positive returns for investors, regardless of market conditions, while managing volatility.

“Investors are always looking for exposure to the potential upside of investing without taking on excessive risk,” said David Scandiffio, President & CEO of CIBC Asset Management Inc. “With its broad diversification, lower volatility and the potential for positive returns, the CIBC Multi-Asset Absolute Return Strategy can play an important role in the portfolio of many investors.”

The CIBC Multi-Asset Absolute Return Strategy seeks to provide investors with:

  • Capital Growth. The fund aims to achieve a positive absolute return by targeting, before fees and expenses and over rolling three-year periods, an annualized return 5% greater than Government of Canada 91-day treasury bills.
  • A smoother investment experience. Annualized volatility is targeted to be generally half that of global equities as represented by the MSCI AC World Index (CAD), under normal market conditions and over a rolling three-year period.
  • Increased diversification. The fund invests in alternative asset classes and strategies such as currencies, commodities and factor-based strategies, in addition to traditional global asset classes.

Investors can hold the fund in registered and non-registered accounts, with a $500 initial minimum investment.
